Fremantle Port’s Wartime Role and Secret Fleets

 

Her Excellency the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AO, Governor of Western Australia and Chairperson of The Western Australian Cook Society will open the event.

Our guest speakers will be Dr Michael (Mack) McCarthy and author Lynne Cairns whose topics will be Fremantle Port’s wartime role and in particular the secrecy surrounding the operations of its allied submarine base in World War II. Dr McCarthy is a maritime archaeologist and historian who works with the Western Australian Museum, University of Notre Dame, Texas A&M University and the Australian Association for Maritime History. Lynne Cairns is celebrated author of many works including Fremantle’s Secret Fleets.

The Western Australian Cook Society will also be giving you an update on coming events in 2015 and how the Society will be promoting further British-Australian relations.

Impact 100, the selected charity for this event, will be presenting information on its activities and how you can be involved in supporting them.
